Building a shooting competition range- NEED HELP!!

#1

Post by TreyHouston »

Ok guys! I have a friend in N Houston who is starting to make a private members only shooting competition range. IDPA I believe he said. He asked me to reach on on this Forum to see if anyone has made (designed) one or has lots of experience with them so that he can make the best possible.

I need to get yall in contact with each other so please send me a pm with your contact info and experience. I am not sure if this is a paid consultation or not.

He is also looking for a manager of this range as well. (Pretty sure this is paid) :thumbs2:

Quite honestly I wish I could be in yalls position, but I've got absolutely zero experience in setting up/running a gun range.

I actually just did my first match like what you're describing today. I wish y'all the best of luck getting it off the ground!

Don't underestimate the value of much of the free advice found on this site.

I would message Charles Cotton who runs this forum. He is a competitive shooter and in the Houston Area, He also has access to people who do this kind of thing for a living.

IDPa and NRA should be willing to help with furnishing infrastructure requirements and details.

Trey,
A few years back I was involved in starting up a non-profit focused on the shooting sports (not centric to IDPA, but IDPA/IPSC/3-gun was to be included). The non-profit died on the vine, but if you're friend would like to meet for coffee, I'd be willing to hear what he has in mind & share the designs we drew up, as well as discuss some of the lessons learned during the process.

I sent an email to the address linked to your profile.
