http://www.news-leader.com/article/2013 ... 0?gcheck=1The guy with a gun picked the wrong clerk.
How wrong?
A veteran of four tours in Iraq. A 30-year military man. A former prison guard, private investigator, professional extraditor of federal prisoners and — perhaps most important on this particular Sunday night — a proud owner of a Walther PPX 9 mm handgun.
Loaded, with one in the chamber, like he always carries it.
Jon Lewis Alexander, 54, of Marionville, thwarted a robbery about 9 p.m. Sunday at Beer 30 on East Logan Street in Marionville — after the would-be robber pulled his weapon first.
As a store security video shows......

I like the instant redirect...I'm not sure why the didn't follow through with firing but I wasn't there in the moment.
I don't see a reason not to engage and actually stop the threat vs having what appears to be a "come to Jesus talk" on the video.

I wonder if the BG actually had a holster or not?“He didn’t even bother holstering his weapon” as he quickly left the store, Alexander said.
Sure picked the wrong guy to try and rob. He quickly changed his mind on followign trhrough with it.

That was a smooth draw! He picked the wrong clerk indeed.

Re: Robber with Gun Picked on Wrong Clerk!
There is an apparent advantage for Open Carrying like in this case, He was clearly open carrying and the draw was not hindered by concealment and was done with one hand.
Vote for Open Carry

One can open carry in one's place of business here, right?Beiruty wrote:There is an apparent advantage for Open Carrying like in this case, He was clearly open carrying and the draw was not hindered by concealment and was done with one hand.

I believe this occurred in Missouri from the newspaper the story was in.

Correct, Open Carry should be an option. Clearly in Liquor store or any clerk job a high risk occupation, open carry is very useful and helpful option.JALLEN wrote:One can open carry in one's place of business here, right?Beiruty wrote:There is an apparent advantage for Open Carrying like in this case, He was clearly open carrying and the draw was not hindered by concealment and was done with one hand.

Yes, if he was in control of the business, then he could open carry in there in Texas.JALLEN wrote: One can open carry in one's place of business here, right?

And, Marionville is a small town southwest of Springfield, MO. It is not very far from Neosho where the Crossbreed Holsters are made.

Open carry is legal in Missouri UNLESS the city puts an ordinance in place prohibiting it. There are some cities that do not allow open carry. The problem is you have to know from city to city if it is or isn't legal. It is a real pain!

wow. One hand pushes the BG's gun down, other hand brings his gun to man's nose. Happened so fast. Instinctive. wow.

I wondered the same thing. Maybe the BG will choose a less dangerous occupationgigag04 wrote:I like the instant redirect...I'm not sure why the didn't follow through with firing but I wasn't there in the moment...

And some cities (like Bolivar) restrict OC to those with a valid CHL. It's a shame it's not more uniform across the state, but it's still nice to see that most cities give citizens the option.Keith B wrote:Open carry is legal in Missouri UNLESS the city puts an ordinance in place prohibiting it. A point-blank head shot would have been pretty messy.
Not to mention having to live with taking a life.
Glad it turned out well for the clerk. Big risk letting the guy walk with the gun still in his hand.
"How's this taste, dude?"

I have a feeling the clerk has taken a life or two before in service...he probably did not want to clean brain bits off of a nice chianti...or the 7 Deadly Zins...that would be a mess!
The bad deal about it is that the perp got to keep his gun.

The danger is that he the prep would come be and open fire in a drive by shooting.RoyGBiv wrote:A point-blank head shot would have been pretty messy.
