In Walmart? That's going to be a tough one. It's people that you should be concerned about... :-)mojo84 wrote:I'd prefer to stop the threat before it gets within arm's reach if possible.

Yeah, a knife is something a gun doesn't always beat, especially at close range, especially when the knife is used properly.mcscanner wrote:Gun beats bat for sure... Let me share something I read a few years back that got me to think differently about a knife.
What is more lethal / effective... Gun or Knife?
Don't recall the person's name or credentials if any. His opinion was the knife for the following reasons.
1. easily concealed on person or in hand
2. easily deployed
3. lower perceived threat level vs. gun
4. low skill level to use
5. low failure rate
6. never runs out of ammo
Clearly defining lethal / effective can be very subjective or not. Stand-off range and time works against you if knife armed. Lots of +/- for both devices.
That person's comments gave me a new view on knifes I had not thought about before. Maybe this should have it's own thread. Thought I would share anyway.

Apparently he wasn't very good at rock/paper/scissors. Gun beats Bat every time.
If a knife IS used properly, you'll feel it before you see it.
Keep calm and carry.

I find it a little unsettling that a CHL who is comfortable giving range commands
does not carry a chambered round. Who wants to rack one's slide when a threat
presents itself?

The BG, presented with a tempting Sig P226 could not help himself.
If the GG had a Bryco, a Jimenez Arms or a Highpoint, the BG could have restrained himself. :-)
