According to an eyewitness report the shooter was an older white man.

Will be interesting to see if the theater is a gun free zone.

It is a gun free zone. Check the Grand 16 website under Conduct Policy.
The Grand Theatres are private property. If you fail or refuse to follow this Code of Conduct, you will be asked to leave the theatre, and may be banned from all The Grand Theatres. If you fail or refuse to leave when requested to do so, you will be arrested and prosecuted for criminal trespassing.

OUR THEATRE PROHIBITS
• Outside food or drink
• Smoking including e-cigarettes
• Possession of firearms or weapons of any kind regardless of whether openly orconcealed, with or without a permit
• Disruptive or disorderly conduct

Figured that would be the case. There are still many theaters where we live that are not gun free zones. We don't go to movies often but the day I can't find one that is not a gun free zone is the day we stop going altogether.

Mrs. JMRA's FB post:

"Prayers for those that were injured and the families that lost loved ones.
Rule # 1 Do not support theaters that ban lawful gun owners to conceal carry. Why make yourself a target for a criminal at the request of a business owner? The only person with a gun will then be the law breaker- sad that we keep penalizing the wrong citizens and empowering the criminal.
Wake up America!"

One smart woman right there!

Shooter killed himself when confronted by armed police. If this had not been a gun free zone perhaps he would have been confronted by someone armed much earlier.

I was taught to eat crawdads in various forms by real Cajuns, in Cajun country, some 40 years ago. I know times have changed but I can't imagine everyone in that theater being unarmed. (Did you ever see the movie, "Southern Comfort"?)

Do we support property rights in this case?
