“The manager, who was a concealed weapons permit holder, came out and engaged in gunfire in the parking lot,” La Sata said. “The manager fled back inside the building, being chased by the gunman. Another Schlenker employee, who also had concealed weapons permit, engaged in gunfire with the suspect.”

Bailey, known to friends as a bouncer and a regular in the Cocoa Village pub scene, did not have any connections to the auto shop, police said.

When a second employee tried to help the first, the report said, Bailey shot the second victim without provocation at close range, approximately nine to ten times in the upper torso, and that as he was standing over that dying victim, apparently getting ready to shoot some more, the report said, a manager fought back and critically wounded Bailey after a dramatic chase and shootout.

"His personality just seemed to change a few weeks ago," Diana Lynn, Bailey's former manager, said.

That was after Bailey was fired from a Cocoa pub where he worked part time. An acquaintance said Bailey was seized by a paranoia and felt everyone was out to get him.
