It's been on that list for almost two weeks, so I'm not sure when they'll get to it. Maybe soon--since the deadline for them to consider House bills passed last week they may have more time.

I just noticed that the status was updated and it looks like it didnt' go as smooth as we hoped. The amendments were not accepted as is and it's going to Conference Committee.

The following people have been selected for the conference.

Senate Conferees: Appointed (05/17/2011) Hegar (Chair) | Birdwell | Patrick | Wentworth | Whitmire

I sure hope they are on our side.

Assuming the house team is ok as well, do we still have to worry about Calendars again?

It's hard to imagine a better bunch for our side than those.

No, bills reported from conference committee go directly to the floor for a vote. We won't have to deal with Calendars again.

Just curious: who selects the conference committee members?

Just curious: who selects the conference committee members?
Probably whoever presides over the chamber--in this case Lt. Gov. Dewhurst.

ETA: Senate rules confirm that--see p91:
ARTICLE XII
CONFERENCE COMMITTEES
APPOINTMENT OF CONFERENCE COMMITTEES
Rule 12.01. All conference committees of the Senate shall be selected and appointed by the President or the President Pro Tempore when the latter shall be presiding. The member authoring or sponsoring the bill for which the conference committee is selected shall be appointed chair of the Senate conferees. At least two of the Senate conferees must be from a standing committee which heard the bill.
The House has a similar rule, so Speaker Straus will appoint the conferees from the House.

Is there anything we need/can do to help this along or is it simply up to the conference committees at this point? :waiting:

There's nothing to do at this point. When the bill comes out of the conference committee, then it will be time to call Senators and Representatives and ask them to support SB321.
