Present for the wife for Christmas. Prefer FTF. May be willing to drive a ways (Tyler, Waco, Wichita Falls, etc.)

Thanks for the offer. The Concealed Carry is a DA only model. The Thunder .380 is DA/SA, which is what she has shot before and liked a lot. I'm not sure I'd want to get her a DA only pistol. I'll have to talk to her about it.

I know you were looking for something local however when I was searching for ammo cans I saw a Bersa Thunder kit at Buds Gun for $310 free shipping. Here's the link if you're interested; http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/prod ... +Grip+Blue.

Having owned both, I would recommend getting the CC model if possible. Lower profile, slimmer grips, reduced tang size, 8+1 mag.

while a little more expensive, i would definitely take a look at the Colt pocketlite listed here as an alternative to the bersa. i have owned two bersas and both gave me issues.

I'd agree, except for some of us a carry gun has to be DA or DA/SA.
I have 3 Colt 380s a Sig P238 and a bunch of other SAO 380s that I dearly love, but I rarely carry them.
I also have owned two Bersa 380s. Mine worked OK, except that every time I fired them, I would fire a 2nd round on the recoil. Had to do with my hand ergonomics guess, but it did not work for me. I don't think a woman with smaller hands would have that problem.

Weird. According to Bersa.com, it's a DA only pistol.

My wife has very small hands. She loved the Bersa Thunder. It's the only gun she's shot that she liked enough to say I'd like to have one. She telecommutes, and now that I've convinced her she needs to have a weapon handy for when she's alone, I'm pursuing this before her ardor cools. We're going to the range this weekend to shoot one again, so she can be sure that's what she wants.

Thanks for all the help and offers.

great little easy to hide pistol
shoots low compared to the xd and 1911
but my wife and I really like its size and weight for carrying, especially in summer when clothing is sparse :biggrinjester:

BUT
my wife is an expert with the 1911 and prefers to shoot the 380 enough to stay proficient, she has small hands to

Yes, the CC is absolutely DA/SA. It's basically the exact same gun but with less things protruding.

I dont have it any more, but my CC model was a DA/SA as well. This would have been around 2006 or so, so they may have made some changes in subsequent models.

Mine had a problem with a spring for the trigger. Sent it back to Bersa, and after a bit of a wait, it came back. Between that time, I picked up a different .380 that was a bit smaller, and sold off the Bersa. A great firing little gun, but it didnt tick any of my must haves at the time.

A great shooting little gun though, to be sure!

Good luck!

Have you looked at the Ruger LCP? Much better quality than the Bersa
