Sounds like Bowie county. The tax office, tag office and DPS are all in the same building with the county courts. One entrance for the public with shake down and metal detectors.Jasonw560 wrote:MeMelYup wrote:I don't think we would see courtrooms go away, but I agree with courthouses and most court offices going away. I don't think I would OC if this passes, but my concern has always been how this may negatively impact CC. If the answer is 'no negative impact' then great!
Would be nice to see both campus carry & open carry (after fixing current version) passing in this session... then next session remove restrictions on voting places, sporting events, racetracks, courthouses, etc.
One annex right down the road from me has the sherriff, constable, a judge, courtroom, and the tax assessor all in one convenient package.
So, anyone with a CHL who has to get their car registration renewed or has to pay a speeding ticket for their kid or spouse, has to disarm because it has a court room.

While the number of bad peace officers is small when compared to the total number of peace officers, there will always be problems with that group.Ziran wrote:While I personally don't intend to open carry this is why I want to have open carry legal on the books (watch the video):

Because there are some people that once you give them an ounce of authority they let it get to their heads.
Take a look at the situation in L.A. (which the news media has dropped coverage of). There were two separate shootings in which L.A. Police opened fire on pickup trucks have some resemblance to the description of the truck used by the shooting suspect without provocation or cause of any kind. In the first event, the two occupants of the pickup were wounded. There condition is not presently available although there were descriptions of the truck being "bullet riddled". In the second event, the occupants of the vehicle were not apparently wounded. Shoot on suspicion has never been the law. These peace officers should be afforded the opportunity to stand before the bar of justice to be held accountable for their actions.

Re: open carry bill filed
This bill is up for public hearing on 03/14. Are we going to see the committee substitute before then? At what point would we expect for the substitute to be introduced?
I'm really hoping that Lavender fixes this thing so that a bill we can support is out there.

My stomach muscles are finely tuned to work with my double layered kydex reinforced gun belt to retain my Concealed IWB weapon, less so if I just took a Gas-X ... but I know techniques ... from Tai Kwon Do, Judo, and General Tsao and chow mein methods... try to get my gun, watch out for my flying double eggroll....
