Do you favor law by Jason Villalba that Allows Teachers to Carry Concealed Guns?

You are kidding, right?powerboatr wrote:teachers need to teach, they have way to much to take care to be armed protectors
two plain clothes armed agents per 300 kids should be affordable.
we could have em armed as backup
imo
I don't know how the 400 figure was chosen.RHenriksen wrote:Great news. But why 1:400?
According to the Texas Education Agency there were over 4.9 million students in Texas public schools in 2010-2011. That's probably at about 5 million now. Two agents per 300 students would yield about 33,300 agents. Who pays their salaries, medical care, pensions? Then we'd have to have people to recruit, train, certify and supervise those 33K, maybe another few thousand. Then we'd have to equip all those agents with weapons, communication systems, etc, etc, and maintain said equipment. In a time of significant pressure to cut government spending, who's going to foot the bill?powerboatr wrote:teachers need to teach, they have way to much to take care to be armed protectors

Not to mention that we all have regular day jobs. By powerbtr's logic, all of us should hand in our CHLs and turn over our pistols to police buy-back programs, as none of us have time to protect ourselves and our families.oldtexan wrote:According to the Texas Education Agency there were over 4.9 million students in Texas public schools in 2010-2011. Do you think America needs to reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban that expired in 2004 as some lawmakers are suggesting?
