Any Info/Action on a Teacher CC Bill?

#1

Post by RoyGBiv »

There was some noise last month about taking steps to authorize all TX-CHL teachers to CC in Texas schools. The reports had State Senator Debbie Riddle's name associated with it (LINK). I came across this interesting morsel in a Reuters article yesterday (LINK)...
Texas Republican State Representative Debbie Riddle has introduced a measure to require school boards and superintendents to give permission to teachers who have completed the concealed handgun licensing course to carry weapons into the classroom.

"It would have a chilling effect on any copycats who wanted to replicate what was done at Sandy Hook," Riddle said.
Has a bill ("measure") been introduced?
Has anyone heard of any progress on this front?
Is this something we would want to be separate from the effort to "Reduce Off-Limits Areas for Texas CHL’s" that Charles is already involved with? Or, would allowing teachers to CC in schools be a convenient excuse to keep existing restrictions on the rest of us?
