Tucker Answer IWB holster review (pic heavy)

Post by StrykerDM »

So I just got home from the PO with my new Tucker "the Answer" holster in hand for my Dan Wesson CBOB. The first thing that struck me when I pulled it out of the box was the quality of the construction. This is one solid piece!

Tucker's "the Answer" is one of the hybid leather/kydex holsters, as you can see. Kydex always gets a bad rap for scratching a pistol's finish, so the answer (pun intended) to this problem is to line the kydex with leather. Here's a close up of the leather lining.

My 1911 fit in it like a glove. I didn't need to adjust the 2 tension screws at all. I moved the clips around a bit to adjust the cant once I started trying it on. Below is a good pic of the nice backing that Tucker puts on these things. It really does make it feel nice and soft against your skin.

Here are some pics of it on with a light shirt concealing it. I was surprised how tight against my body, the answer held my commander size 1911. The weight of the all steel gun was very well supported on the 2 kydex clips.

Overall, its an amazing holster that really makes it easy to conceal a larger, heavier pistol like my CBOB. I'm sitting on the couch typing this out while wearing my new holster and barely notice its there. It draws very smoothly and quietly as well. Reholstering is also easy to do with one hand because of the kydex. This holster will likely see a lot of use, just like my other Tucker Gunleather products.

And no, I'm not affiliated with Tucker, I just love his stuff. Now I need to get some cash together to get that HF1 OWB holster I've been wanting.

That is a slick-lookin set up Stryker. If Crossbreed and Comp Tac are Ford and Chevy, then that is a Cadillac or Lincoln for sure. I am jealous.

Some day I will have my own gorgeous nickel 1911 with a Tucker rig. Some day ... til then I'll make do with Glocks and Crossbreeds.

Congrats.

You can't go wrong with a glock! Nothing wrong with a gun that'll fire pretty much no matter what you do to it.

And I have a crossbreed for my XD9 and had one for my S&W 442. They are both excellent holsters. After purchasing my shiny new Dan Wesson, I decided I wanted something nicer on the finish than kydex. So, I went with the Tucker answer. Its definetely the Cadillac to crossbreed Ford. :coolgleamA:

Great looking rig. I am toying with the idea of making some of those modifications to my crossbreed.

I've tried several IWB holsters. The Answer is by far the best.

Don't mean to hog your thread with my pics, but it seemed like a good place to sing the praises of this particular holster and show off just how well it conceals.
I'm carrying a Kimber Ultra CDP II (1911 with 3" barrel and compact aluminum frame). I'm 5'7" and about 195.

nice! how do you like those C-clips? I was debating getting one as well. I just ordered mine with slim clips for now.

Great. I wasn't sure what I would prefer, so I ordered one standard clip, one C clip, and one velcro clip. I figured that if I really hated one, or really loved one, I could switch them all to what I prefer later.
The only issue with the C clip is when putting it on, putting your pants/belt on, or maybe when reconnecting everything after using the restroom. You have to make sure that the belt goes in the slot. When the belt is loose, it can easily come out. It stays put perfectly once you have your belt buckled. But if you miss the thing, one of the edges of it ends up under the belt and the holster doesn't seem quite as comfortable for some hard to explain reason until you find the problem. (It's still not going anywhere, the weapon is secure.)
But it's not a big deal to check, sort of like making sure your fly is up.
Once it's on, it is more concealable, hardly noticeable at all.
I think Rob suggested one C clip and one regular clip. the regular clip helps keep everything in place until you get your pants and belt hitched up.
