BUG - Should I carry strong side or weak side?

Postby jrandyw » Thu Oct 11, 2012 1:47 am

I'm looking at carrying a back up gun. I'm interested in input from other on if they recommend carrying the backup on my strong side or on my weak/support side? I'm looking at pocket carrying an LCP (front or back pocket).

Posting in holsters as this will directly affect my holster purchase.

I carry my normal weapon about 3:30 on my strong side, so I carry my BUG in my weak side front pocket.
I do this as if I am carrying both weapons, if they are both on my strong side, I can only get one out. But if I have one on each side, I can get at both (what if one of my arms or hands is incapacitated, or in view of the BG and I want to sneak it out of the holster (pocket or IWB))

I carry my BUG in a Mika's pocket holster in my support side front pocket. That's all that goes into that pocket besides my hand. Like Teamless I have a gun available to either hand and the BUG is now my "sneaky" gun. :thumbs2:

Smartcarry or ankle( I do not use it). If you are forced to disarm, it is too late to go for your backup.

It's not uncommon in close range combat to suffer a hand wound, or for the BG to grab your gun hand. As per Mojo, carry a back up on your weak side.

I carry one of my back ups on the left side and plus this helps balance out the belt.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'll be purchasing a holster for my support side.
