Old faithful holsters

Postby MoJo » Sun Nov 04, 2012 4:16 pm

I just got around to putting my Old Faithful stage 3 holster kit for a 1911 together today. After having to find where the puppy carried it off. :???: There a few puppy tooth marks on the leather back oh well, it is an IWB nobody will see it.

Assembly was very simple and straightforward the holes in the leather needed to be stretched slightly to get the T nuts started. A couple of good whacks with a plastic mallet and they were seated. Old faithful sends plenty of hardware; enough to get your holster adjusted to your taste. It took me about fifteen minutes to get the holster put together and maybe another fifteen minutes to get the draw tension right. :coolgleamA:

It's pretty comfortable now. After it's broken in I'll let y'all know how it is. Right now I say it's a winner! :thumbs2: Pics later.

I got one for my SW 3913. Great price, and it was kind of fun assembling the kit. I also noticed the leather was a bit thicker than the leather that came with the Crossbreed for my Beretta.

I only have a few issues with it, though. For one, I was kind of surprised at how long it took to arrive after I ordered it. I had heard of others getting there's in about a week, but mine took about a month or so. All in all, though, still much shorter time than most.

Another thing I noticed is that the little bolts stick out a little in the back. Even so, I can't feel them, and I can always change out the spacers with some thicker ones that came with the kit.

Also, the kydex on mine is not flush against the leather like it is with my Crossbreed. There's a gap between the two. Might be how it's designed, though, as it still allows for decent retention. Unless mine is just different for some reason?

Anyway, I'm pleased with mine, and had I known about these holsters beforehand, I would've gotten a kit for my Beretta. I really like the Crossbreed I have for the Beretta, it's just a little more expensive than the Old Faithful kit is all.

I use a MTAC so I can't say for certain, but judging by the photos online, the old faithful holsters are designed that way. My Comp-tac holster also has raised kydex and very good retention.

Oh, Ok. Good to hear the MTACs also have raised kydex. Guess it's part of the design, then, and I suppose as long as retention is solid, it doesn't really matter.

I have been happy with mine, especially when you consider the cost.
