leather experts:

is there a way to remove a commercial finish and re-dye leather?

I have one of these:

I'd like to re-dye at least the belt loop to be black; is that possible?

Regular shoe dye can be applied directly to finished leather. I have dyed boots many times. Tandy Leather also makes a variety of leather dyes and finishes and I'm sure other sources are available as well.
