Hello, I'm not an expert but I have tried a few different ways and have decided on my preferred method. I carry a g26 in a kydex IWB and sometimes OWb holster. I have found that moving the weapon from my belt to the center console and back is a pain and really don't see a reason for taking it off my belt. With the right holster it is comfortable for me either at 3 o'clock or appendix. I'm only 5'7" and have a bit of a belly so appendix is not always my favorite. I find that a light jacket tshirt or even my seatbelt placed just right provides great cover. This also comes into play when you need to exit the vehicle and there are people around and you don't to go pulling your G out for all to see. Just my opinion, not legal or professional advise.
