Need recommendations for custom LH Leather Holsters

#1

Post by Songbird »

I'm needing some current input on custom leather holster companies for my husband. A lot of the sites out there don't deal with lefties as far as ready made stuff, and he doesn't want to wait 11 months for Hopp Leather again. :waiting: He needs a holster for the Colt Defender he got for Christmas. Anyone have recent experience with other custom leather folks out there? Thanks in advance.

Check D.M. Bullard in Azle. I haven't bought left hand holsters from him but he seems to keep quite a bit of stuff in stock. If he doesn't have it in stock, I think he makes it pretty quick.

Good luck.

It's fine if you disagree. I can't force you to be correct.

Dan at http://www.zlogonje.com/blog1.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is a real leather artist. His lead time has always been pretty short for a custom holster, currently around 5 weeks.

Check out his website photos.

If the quality of his holsters is as good as it appears on the website, then his prices make them a bargain.

I've purchased from him and have nothing but praise. He started as a sideline and grew to 1 man full time shop. Now his wife helps him keep the books.

I've ordered a LH holster from Alien Gear, waiting on them to send it, but I'm happy with my RH holster with them.

I have left-handed holsters for a variety of pistols, from a variety of manufactures....to include:

DM Bullard
Galco
Comp-Tac
Mitch Rosen
Fobus
Desantis

....and my favorite....

Hopp Custom Leather.

Eric Hopp's work is outstanding, and you simply won't get one as special for the price anywhere else.

I have this one on order with mag carrier:

And I already own this one:

Good holsters are rarely quick and easy to get. However, there are a few places that stock them.

Not yet mentioned:

Call Craig or Audrey at Lightning Arms Sports.... they stock a bunch of LH holsters. I've bought a couple Milt Sparks holsters (for 3" 1911's) from them over the years.

P & T Partners (high end 1911 specialists) used to stock holsters but I haven't dealt with them recently.

Allan Yoast Firearms is a stocking holster dealer (used to keep a few LH on hand.)

Brownells Inc.

Top Gun Supply (440) 729-7273

What is he specifically looking for? I have a couple 3" 1911 holsters not being used. If his needs match one of my extras, I might let one go.
