You are thinking of my silver Dodge on 38" tires. I still have it, i met you when you bought the Walther. At 9mpg I cant afford to drive it, but its paid for so it sits in the driveway unless I need a truck for something.

Re: Disarmed AND unloaded by Pearland PD
It is probably not only the vehicle but time of night you are out, during early morning hours you stand out more than at say 3 pm,when i was in law enforcement less road traffic meant traffic on the road got a longer look and usually during early morning more bad guys are out and about.you're license plate don't say "copkilla" or something like that does it
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them
Re: Disarmed AND unloaded by Pearland PD
No, thats pretty funny though, I would really get hassled then. I am always a big supporter of LEO, since a lot of my family is in LE and they have a dangerous job.

You honestly would not believe the drug busts that happen because of traffic stops initiated because of either:rm9792 wrote:...If i had a front plate uglying up the front then they would find or fabricate something else. I hang around cops and have been since I was 10 and have yet to meet one who really cares about the front plates being gone. I have been told they actually like it missing because they have a good reason to stop someone they are suspicious about.
1) no front license plate
2) Defective/no license plate lamp.

You COULD carry an extra magazine. Just just pop it in, holster your piece, and drive away. Deal with the empty mag and loose rounds later.

Re: Disarmed AND unloaded by Pearland PD
Well gee, if you are going to file a complaint about the officer acting within the law for disarming you, you might as well file a complaint for the officer stopping you and not ticketing you.Debated filing a complaint because there is no way they felt "threatened" but I do have to drive thru there a lot at night in a distinctive car. No, it wouldnt matter if i had a front lp because I get pulled over a lot for crazy reasons, yet never get a ticket. I dont know if they are hoping for kids or dealers or what but it is about twice a month. I told one HPD officer I didnt need to carry anymore as I always have a police car on my tail. He was the second one that night like 20 minutes after his buddy stopped me. I was in a real bad part of town at 2am but one of night techs had his truck broke into at one of our offices, off of MLK Blvd.
Since you knowing drive around illegally, then you deserved to be hassled once in a while, in a completely legal fashion, which they did.
Re: Disarmed AND unloaded by Pearland PD
Well, the disarming and unloading part seems a hassle, but I have to agree with the others......Get a front plate. IMO it's not worth it.
I used to have side window tint that was way too dark. Everytime I tried to get inspected, they pulled out the meter and tried to fail me....I would always respond "This is a 1983 model, and the windows were tinted prior to the law taking effect...that I was grandfathered" They always looked confused, pulled out a book, looked up the info, and then passed me. Of course I had re-tinted the window a couple of times after the law went into effect, but it worked .
After a while I just decided to make myself legal, and voila no more hassles...much easier to be a sheep in this case

Re: Disarmed AND unloaded by Pearland PD
Apparently you dont read it all. I didnt file a complaint and he was not within his rights to disarm me. I immediately pulled into a lighted parking lot, handed my chl and told him exactly where the gun was located. There was no reason to feel he was in any danger. You also didnt read the part where they make up reasons to pull me over and it is rarely the front plate, that was just this time. I have gotten 1 ticket for 8 mph over and let go over a dozen times because they want to pull over a sports car and unfortunately I am required to drive in bad parts of town at night for work reasons.Double Naught Spy wrote:Well gee, if you are going to file a complaint about the officer acting within the law for disarming you, you might as well file a complaint for the officer stopping you and not ticketing you..

It is amazing the number of people on here who fixate on one thing and get on a high horse. I guess I am quite the John Dillinger without my front LP. Some posters make it sound like I am running people down and speeding in school zones. BTW if anyone is losing sleep over this it is on now. Guess what, got stopped by HPD this afternoon, tint too dark. It is dealer applied and legal all the way around, let go of course and not disarmed.

Who are you to say the there was no reason for him to feel he was in danger? What a ludicrous statement.rm9792 wrote:There was no reason to feel he was in any danger.Double Naught Spy wrote:Well gee, if you are going to file a complaint about the officer acting within the law for disarming you, you might as well file a complaint for the officer stopping you and not ticketing you..
