Greatness. Unfortunately, some people think those signs really work.

I was reading a tread on Digg one day when a guy from Israel was talking about how safe gun free zones are. The conversation went something like this:

Israeli: "Gun free zones are quite safe"
Me: "Really? How does a sign make the area safe?"
Israeli: "A sign? You don't have security personnel searching people entering a gun free zone?"
Me: "Nope. In the US you can put up a sign saying 'Gun Free Zone' and that's it. Nobody gets searched."
Israeli: "That's crazy! How does that make anyone safe?"

As our own foreigner taught us with that "C" word thing... Making assumptions like that based on different experiences and idioms can be dangerous.
