Four Houston Police Department officers were indicted today on misdemeanor charges in connection with the beating of a burglary suspect in an incident that was caught on videotape earlier this year.

The four and three other officers have been fired for their roles in the alleged beating of Chad Holley, an Elsik High School sophomore, who was handcuffed and lying on the ground after leading police on a short chase March 24

The Harris County DA has said that the first public viewing of that tape will be at the trial. They haven't released it yet.

LOL. They are learning. Don't let the public try the case first.

Very unfortunate. I won't make any assumptions until I see the video myself.

That reminds me, there are some countries where relatives pretty much DO have to support prison inmates. I wonder how that would change our welfare-culture here in the States.

Why not have the prisoners make the roads everyone's asking the government to do? They get fed based on the quality of work they do. No more income tax? This is genius... didn't they used to do this with the chain gangs?

Did I miss a news story about the 15 year old being convicted?
The tape showed the end of a short police chase, Holley's arrest and the alleged beating of the teen
while he lay on the ground in handcuffs.
Did he deserve a beat down because of his skin color?

Sad to throw away a career over something so stupid.

Resisting is one thing, but once the scrote is cuffed, it's time to walk away.

I am curious as to why you say that the incident occurred because of his skin color?

The fact that one of the officers, Officer Bryan, is himself black, makes this conclusion suspect, IMHO. It would seem to me that these officers are due the same consideration you give to the teen burglary suspect - They should not be assumed to be guilty of a racially motivated crime until convicted of such in court.

You have obviously never fought someone while they're high on PCP - once cuffed, the fight is still far from over.

We'll see how this comes out for the HPD guys - I don't know anything about the story. While I like the idea of burglars getting a beat down, it's NOT worth it to do it illegally. The CJ system is flawed but we still have to play by the rules - hope that is what the court finds that these officers did.

To CobraMedic - I don't see race as an issue here - why do you bring it up?

The notion that the suspected burglar suffered a beat-down while handcuffed is not supported by Channel 13's coverage of the story. According to the disciplinary letters issued to the officers, only one of the blows he received occurred after he was handcuffed.

:iagree:

It's a tactic that obama supporters use against people who are against his policies. Why bring it up here?
