Positive LEO experince w/San Antonio PD

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

Positive LEO experince w/San Antonio PD

#1

Post by Garcia »

Just wanted to share. Last Thursday the 15th of Feb. I was in a major accident. Driving down west on 410 I had a tire blowout and ended up rolling my truck 3-4 times. SAPD arrived and while I was hanging upside down, seatbelt still on a policeman was at my window. I remember him telling me not to move, help on the way. He also saw my pistol in it's holster, asked if I was LEO, I said no, I have CCP, gave him my wallet and pistol to secured. Long story short he followed me on my first ambulance ride to the hospital. When a friend of mine showed up, the officer asked if it was okay for me if he gave my weapon to my friend to secure. When I was released from the hospital late that night my friend said she was really impressed with the police man. He removed my wallet and weapon from the trunk of his patrol car to the locked glove box of her car. Thanks SAPD!

I love positive contacts.

First, I'm glad that you were not seriously injured in your MVA.

Second, I'm glad that the officer was kind enough to take care of your weapon, and allow your friend to take posession of both your weapon and your wallet.

Just a question: "Does your friend have a CHL as well?"

kw5kw,
No she did not have one. The officer made sure she did not handle my weapon. I guess he knew I would be released that night.

Garcia-

That is a great experience and thank God you are doing well.

Please take a few minutes to write a letter to the police officer and his superior. I am sure it is a great relief for one of those guys to receive a letter of appreciation!

It sounds like you ran across a very pro-gun police officer and your letter thanking him might reinforce his beliefs!

Have a great evening.

Amen!

Glad you were not seriously hurt. Having your gun exposed would have been the least of your worries....

wow....as LT stated....kinda tough early posting for you....Glad to hear you are alright and do give kudos to the SAPD Officer for the correct right-on, will-do attitude he displayed.
Probably a short note to the Chief, for the Officer's folder, might round out a thankfully good experince.

I hope you were able to get his name and badge #, you need to write the Dept. and praise his attitude and professional handling of the situation.

We would hope that is the attitude of the whole Dept., but make a big deal out of it, this Officer deserves some Thank's.

What difference would that make? As long as the friend wasnt a felon and was old enough, they would be legally transporting the gun home. Or were you asking because the office was so coperative?
