On Saturday evening, NYPD officers were attempting to stop a deranged man who was running in front of cars in Times Square. The officers decided that it might be a good idea to shoot the man. Instead they injured two women who had the bad luck to be there. One woman was hospitalized with a broken fibula and tibia (the main bones in the lower leg).

You can't imagine this scene if you haven't been to Times Square or seen it in a movie or on TV (it's where they do the ball drop on New Years eve). It's a huge stretch of concrete, filled with moving vehicles, bicycles, and thousands of people on Saturday evening. You could not shoot in any direction without hitting a person or occupied vehicle, or maybe the window of a business.
Her lawyer has an easy case.
