NRA Instructor Class

Post by MoJo »

For those of you who want or need to become NRA certified in basic pistol instruction there will be a class at Golden Triangle Gun Club in Beaumont, Texas tentatively set for May 18-19. This class will be a BIT class two 8 hour days. This is a Saturday and Sunday with 12 seats available. There is lodging nearby and several eating establishments within easy travel. Your instructors will be Walt Haley and myself Morris Jones. Walt is an NRA Training counselor, Marine Corps combat veteran, and a distinguished rifleman. I am an NRA certified pistol instructor , Army (Airborne) combat veteran and lifelong competitive shooter. We will be putting a definite date and cost on the NRA instructor website soon. If the demand is high enough we will be doing this several times during the summer to include some classes on weekdays if there is enough demand.

E-mail me mjones40@gt.rr.com to reserve a seat or for questions.

If there is enough interest we will do a class on weekdays. Walt and I are both retired and have plenty of time. We were thinking of the folks who still have to work for a living. :thumbs2: You tell me when would be good and maybe we can accommodate.

I've already signed up for NRA class but some of you that have been through the program could you tell me about it. I asked because I have been teaching firearms for a while but don't know that I'm up to rolling around & doing tactical shooting (etc)at my age guess I should have thought about it before signing up huh. I should be ok without the course as I teach security both classroom/firearms under 1702 Texas Occupation Code but always wanted to take the class so thought this would be a good excuse to do so.

William Crowe in Royse City is teaching the NRA Instructor class. I am taking his class this Thursday and Friday. I know you are on my side of town, but he may still have some spots open. It's quite a hike for me - about 70 miles one way.

My class is this Thursday from 5:30 pm to 11:30 pm, and then Friday from 8 am to 6 pm. I am sure if it were the weekend, Saturday's class wouldn't be that late.

The weekend (23rd & 24th) class runs from 8am to 6pm both days. That's probably because we are getting the home firearm safety instructor course as well.

I would be interested in the 23/24 Feb class.
Please point me to where I should do registration if I got a waiver from my family duties :tiphat:

I'm in the same class I had signed up for one later in the year then after reading your comment decided to try & get in the class was lucky enough to land a place. Being able to attend during the week is better for me as I have a Taser class for some security officers this weekend. Look forward to seeing you there I'll be the real ole guy in class.

Sorry - I thought I did this earlier, but got side-tracked with dishes. And laundry. :banghead:
