Fenix vs Olight

Post by A-R »

Can't find my EDC flashlight. Misplaced it a few days ago. It will probably turn up, but going to use this as an excuse to find a newer/better model than the little Coast V2 I've been using. Can't justify $150+ for a good Surefire or Streamlight, so I've been looking at Fenix and Olight - specifically the single-battery pocket models Fenix LD10 and Olight T10. Anyone have an experience/opinions on those two? Or on these makers generally?

I really want a nice sturdy belt clip this time. Fenix appears to come with one. I have an Olight clip I bought thinking it would fit my Coast light (it didn't) but I'm sure I can fit it to a T10.

My goals are reasonable price (both are in the $50-$60 range. ~ 200 max lumens. simple tail light button on/off capability. thinner the better, must be pocketable even in small pockets of dress pants etc (or at least easily clip to pocket).

This one is a little above your price point but I just purchased one and couldn't be happier.

I'm a Fenix fan. I lost my first one after a while. Since then I've had two P3Ds. None have failed. But this particular model does not come with a clip.

Four brightness levels up to 215 lumens, strobe, and SOS.

Check some of the forums like DefensiveCarry, TheFiringLine, and TheHighRoad for a Fenix dealer. The prices will be less than most web sites selling Fenix. Available models vary. The P3Ds were about $45 each shipped.

I've been really happy with my Fenix PD30. The belt clip is good. It is very bright and sturdy. It also came with some extra parts like a lanyard and replacement button.

I liked the Fenix P3D I bought from 4sevens but I'm even more impressed with his Quark 123^2 "Tactical" that I carry now. Not everyone likes the UI for the tactical line but I love the combination of flexible configuration and simplicity in use.

I purchased the SC1 Eluma at the TSRA gun show when they had their State Convention in Mesquite. I've been extremely pleased with it. It is my EDC tactical light. I carry it in my pocket being only 3.5" long and only 7/8" in diameter at the hood. I paid $40 for it. It uses 1 CR123 battery, and puts out 190 lumens at brightest, 3 light levels plus a strobe( which is VERY disorienting).

It's an Olight product, as the instructions manual has "Olight Technology Co., Ltd" printed on it.

Longhorn Tactical is located in Austin, but is a gun show gypsy that travels to all the gun shows in Texas. They also carry Olights, which I was opting for before I saw the one I bought. They are going to be at the Austin Gun show on April 17-18, and in Ft.Worth on May 1-2. I'm planning on going there and picking up another flashlight from them.

I'm NOT trying to steer you away from either the Fenix or the Olight, as they have fantastic products, but the ITP lights are well worth looking at. Looking back on it, I'm glad I held out for the one I got. It's a great tactical light in a compact package.

That's what I've carried for the past 6 months and I havn't had any problems. Don't stare at the SOS. I learned the hard way

Notice a lot of orders from batteryjunction.com and 4sevens.com

those who've ordered from those places, satisfied with service? Does either take Pay Pal?

Got my 4sevens at the gun show from a local rep in the area. His website is renutechsolutions.com. He sells some wicked knives too - karambits. (?) He's got a cool instructional video on the knives.
