I've used it in my AR, and it ran fine. A little dirty, and not very accurate, but, that's to be expected.

I've shot at least 5k rounds thru my two XDs and another 5K thru my RRA and I'd say around 10 rounds gave me trouble

Rifle ? ..
SKS Yugo.
Found it to be dirty, and the local ranges here, do not allow steel.
Afew bucks more, I use cheap brass ie: Wolfe, Ulyanovsk, they're also dirty ... but, what tha'
heck, it's Military and so is the Rifle.

My pistols ? ..
Will not use cheap Military ammo; use the Blazer's (aluminum) and other cheap brass. Primers and powder seems to be clean.

What do you use for cleaning solvents ?

For the bore, I like the Remington, so thick it scrubs the gun. I have also Hoppe N9, however I find it less efficient than Remington.

Been running Brown or Silver Bear through my AR (and so has a buddy) with no issues on mine, and a few FTFeeds on his. I've been using only the PMags and he's using the stock steel that came with his.

Loved it enough that I bought a couple thousand of each. Have not shot any through the pistols though, stick with the local Walmart stuff.

I was afraid to buy the Brown Bear, IIRC, it is lacquer-coated.
I've heard some people say it will gum up the barrell and possibly cause a stuck casing.

I've put 120 rounds of Silver Bear through my AR, with no issues.

Gonna try Golden Bear next.

I've shot just about all the different steel cased ammunition in 9mm, 40, 45 and .223 without any drama. It's dirty but, so what? Lots of brass cased ammo is dirty too just clean your gun after firing it.

:iagree: I'll buy a few boxes or several different types of ammo when I buy a regular bulk order. I try them out to make sure there are no major issues with that brand and if all goes well I buy in bulk the next go round. I have shot every brand of steel cased ammo in .223/5.56 and like stated above its dirty, there is a chance for a stuck case, there is a coating on the case-I have yet to see any of the lacquer coated ammo in any brand. Most steel cased ammo has a plymer coating on it, but no lacquer. Its not as accurate, it is a little tougher on your internal parts, but the cost savings on even just one case of steel cased ammo will buy all the needed replacement parts and then some. So needless to say I shoot steel in my AR most of the time at the range, but my a problem arises mags are loaded with brass.

If I were to do any practice or carbine coarse I would buy a case of steel and have a blast literally. :fire

I tried some this morning in a P6.

Twice, I had an unfired round get stuck hard in the chamber with the pistol slightly out of battery, before I finished my second box.

I'm not touching that stuff again.
