I sent my Kobra Carry slide back to Ed Brown today to get the slide carry cuts (sometimes referred to as "Hi-Power" cuts).
Cost was $159.95.
100 for the cuts
50 to refinish slide
9.95 return shipping
Pictures further down in the thread.

Looks good, AEA. Congrats. Suppose EB would do ball cuts on a slide?

WOW! Talk about fast service from Ed Brown!
They quoted me 1-2 weeks to get the work done.
I sent my KC slide in last Friday by USPS.
They received it on Monday morning (yesterday).
UPS shipping label created today and it's on it's way back to me!
Turns out, only 1-2 Days, not Weeks!
Now, if they could only shorten that mfg time on the SF-SS-G3 order from 90-120 days to 9-12 days that would be GREAT!

Holy moly.. I pray you don't carry that thing. That is just TOO pretty to be carried. Don't you wish you could buy 2 1911's in the same exact specs? One to carry, and one to keep in your safe and take her out every Sunday.
Why do 1911's have to be so beautiful?

Actually, it is mostly a safe queen. I shoot it about once a year and only carry it for BBQ's/Family get-togethers! It's as you say, too pretty to be a EDC and also to expensive to spend anytime in a Police Property Room should I have to actually use it.

Re: Sent Ed Brown KC slide back for Carry Cuts
First time I've seen those kinds of cuts on a 1911. Did you do it strictly for cosmetic reasons, or is there some functional reason to do it for carrying? (IOW, why do they call it "Carry Cuts?")

Re: Sent Ed Brown KC slide back for Carry Cuts
I did it for cosmetic appearance and to look a bit different than the standard 1911. More of a Custom look. When you see it you know it is a Custom gun.
Ed Brown offers this as an option on all new guns and I have a SF-SS-G3 on order (due to arrive in November) that I selected the same option. They do not show it as a line item in their accessories/installation section but I emailed them and they told me to send it in and they would do it.
On a 1911 with the GI recoil setup (such as this gun) they are mainly cosmetic because you can simply push on the recoil plug to move the slide for a "press check" to see if there is one in the barrel.
On one with a FLGR you cannot do this and you have to move the slide (usually by the rear serrations because many have no front serrations). So, by having these cuts on a FLGR gun you can then use these cuts at the front of the gun (hand underneath barrel) to press the slide back to check. Same as front slide serrations but I think better looking.
Also, you can use them to rack the slide single handed (in case one of your hands is damaged) by placing them against the edge of something and push with your good shooting hand.
I am really happy with it.
The knife is RED I guess the lighting (or a setting on my camera) made it look pink. I am definitely NOT a photographer!

Beautiful gun right there.
I love my Dan Wesson CBOB guns, which coincidentally use Brown frames.
