Big Thanks to Vic & Jaime

Post by Vol Texan »

I was at Top Gun Range in Houston this past Sunday afternoon shooting with my daughter, and when I finally got my turn to shoot, my found out that my Sig wouldn't fire.

I went through about 12 rounds, and not a single one of them fired. Each round was dimpled on the primer, but nothing went downrange.

This is my EDC, and it was a sinking feeling knowing that it would not have fired if I'd needed it. I'd been at the range just two weeks earlier, and everything was firing OK, but it had been locked up while I was out of the country, and this was only my second day back carrying again.

I asked Vic at Top Gun for assistance, and he came right out to the range with me. He test fired my a few of my 'dimpled' rounds out of his 9mm to make sure they were OK, and all three were just fine - so the problem was in my Sig, not in the ammo. He offered to have his Sig armorer work on it, but I figured that I'd just bring it back to my LGS and let them have a look.

Monday I called Jaime (owner of Defensive & Concealed Handguns in west Houston) during the day and let him know I'd had a problem, and he asked me to come in when I got off work. I worked late, and arrived less than an hour before closing. He broke it down, found the problem, and fixed it right away. I'd gotten a bit of Frog Lube in the firing pin lock, and it had attracted some debris. I also had some gunk under the hammer (under the removable grip?!?), and he cleaned that out as well.

I asked him how much I owed, and his answer was, "you go back to the range ASAP, and find out if it shoots first, and then we can talk." Talk about customer service! Jaime and the guys up at D&C are some of the best.

Well, today was another long day at the office, but I stopped by Top Gun again on the way home. I walked in, saw Vic, and he asked me if I'd had my Sig working again. I said sure, and told him I needed to send one mag downrange just to make sure. He told me that he'd waive the range fee, and sent me inside. 30 seconds (and one full mag) later, I was convinced my Sig was good as new, and I thanked him for the good service.

I was happy to call Jamie back on the way home to tell him that his fix worked perfectly!

Good service is always good to find, and to find it in two places back-to-back is exceptional. But of course, I always have a good experience at these two places. I just thought I'd share with you...

Great to hear about stellar customer service. I'm glad you found out about the problem, that it was an easy fix and that things are working again. FTF is not something you want for any firearm, but especially not an EDC.

Well done Vic and Jaime. :cheers2:

Top Gun is THE most high quality customer service business I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with.

I can't speak highly enough of Jaime. He runs a great business and helped me quite a bit with my own gun.
