I'm a big believer in battlefield pickups, so I'll start with the 10/22 and a whole backpack full of ammo. Time (and a little sneakiness) will take care of the rest.

Of course the best option is never to get in a situation where you have to choose only one gun.

The last several times I went to the range I had about 10% of the .22 ammo just go "click" therefore I chose the AR. I've often told others that I'd probably take my Ruger Mark III if the situation ever arose but given the dependability of .22 ammo, not so much...

I've never had issues with .22 ammo. What are you buying and where are you buying it?

Both Winchester and Federal in bulk boxes have had problems. I thought at first it might be the gun but it happens with all 3 that I own. .17HMR is even worse.

I've shot thousands of rounds of both brands and never had an issue.

Terrible AR options IMO. Can't vote. First choice was AR, but G17 has a strong case.

it's kinda hard to play the game when the rules specify such specific brand names and models ..... not one of the specified choices are in my possession, although I do have several that are somewhat close. So, in order to just bend the rules a bit without completely breaking them, I'll mention the first three "close examples" I have that would be among my choices..... Marlin 336 30-30, Mossberg 500 "Bantam" 20 ga, and 3" Ruger SP101 .357. Of those three, I believe it would come down to the SP101. With the scenario posed, I think it would probably be best to carry concealed as much as possible so as NOT to be a target of the "I'll use my .22 to get another gun" crowd. Also, even though the .357 rounds are a bit on the heavy/bulky side (compared to considerably more .22lr or general pistol calibers ammo) it is capable of handling most needs. In a case of constantly being "on the move", I'd rather have a belt gun than one on a sling or having to be hand carried. I may need my hands and overall mobility (what's left) to handle other survival chores .... and I wouldn't want to have to put my firearm down. Even though I reload for almost everything I own, I wouldn't consider that ability to be of much use in a TEOTWAWKI situation. So, ammo will be an issue for everyone to deal with no matter what caliber.

Besides .... I'm planning on hearing the sound of the trumpet before those "last days", so hopefully will not be playing in the last game anyway ;-)

I will pick few neutron bombs and couple B-2 bombers. When the end is really near, have a decent Samurai Sword on your back. For me, something like this one:

By the way, the script on the blade is very beautiful and it is a very noble statement.
It reads:
1) Forgive those who inflicted injustice upon you.
2) Check up (i.e., visit and be nice to) on those (family, friends and kin) who stopped checking upon you.
3) Do good to those who did evil to you.
4) Say the truth even when the truth is against you.

Dang - they are out of stock of pallet ammo :grumble . 500,000 rounds of 308 would be $263,000 (and some change.) Going need a lift gate truck for delivery when the pallets are back in stock.

Can I just keep my 1894/1895? Levers are pretty dang reliable and as long as I can stock primers/lead, there's always the option of a BP load.

Out of that list, I vote for the Remington 870. A shotgun is a versatile tool, depending on the load you use. And 12 ga. shotgun shells are EVERYWHERE, even in the anti states (if you were unfortunate enough to be in one of those).
