Some guns are for concealed carry, others are for dressing up and showing off. My 686 Plus (along with the custom Tucker Gunleather holster) is the latter :)

Thanks :) I want to install a simple hammer loop on it before January. I figure if I'm ever in a situation where I _should_ open carry (decoratively), I will still want some kind of simple retention. Not because I'm afraid a bad guy will take it; I just don't want it falling out of the holster and getting scratched up

I carry a 686+ regularly and here on my thoughts on it as a carry gun. 1: I would never think of carrying it IWB. I usually carry in a leather DMBullard holster with a loose heavy T-shirt being enough to break the print of it. 2: If the only gun or guns you have ever carried are poly or pocket guns then the weight will be something to get use to. If you have ever carried an all steel carry or full size gun (1911, sig, beretta) then it won't be a big difference. 3: Due to the cylinder size being larger (i think) then the 6 shot a speed loader is difficult to load from. Basically won't go in all the way. So you have to just hope that when you turn it all drop in. See picture. The only need I felt to make it carry worthy was to put an extend cylinder release on. The one pictured is a hogue small extension. I hope this helps and your still following this thread.

Not my first choice for a carry gun, but a first choice for a cool and fun wheelgun.
