What if the barrel itself is a smooth bore, but the muzzle device is rifled? The muzzle device would probably have to be about 6" long, but the picture they've teased us with has a long handguard which hides the attachment point.
I don't know if something like that would even work, but I think it's worth consideration.

Their binary trigger has three positions. Safe. Fire on pull but not on release. Fire on pull and fire on release. Wouldn't they have to get rid of the middle function to not be a rifle? Otherwise it's capable of firing only once per trigger pull.
Only a few days until the SHOT show. My official guess is Pixie Dust.

Secret revealed:
http://www.recoilweb.com/franklin-armor ... 33042.html
The barrel has lands and grooves but they are straight which makes it not a rifle.
Initial offering will be in 300 BLK and looks to shoot out to around 100 yards. The test gun shot 3-4 MOA with 5.56.
It also looks like they are developing a proprietary bullet for more precise or longer range work.

Methinks custom loads will be difficult with this guy, I wonder if they'll sell the nerf footballs as a component. They found a loophole which allowed them to build the barrel with straight rifling which avoids the classification as a pistol or rifle. This allows the gun to shoot a claimed 4 MOA with standard ammunition. What’s really intriguing are the new NERF football shaped projectiles which they are launching with the gun. These projectiles can be loaded in standard 5.56/.223 cases, and according the Franklin they bring the accuracy to 1 MOA at 100 yards.

It seems like a conventionally rifled AR pistol with a brace offers better practical accuracy, but they milked it for a lot of free publicity. Mission accomplished!

I think a conventionally rifled AR pistol without a brace would be more accurate. Disappointed it wasn't a miracle work around the NFA but not surprised it's a gimmick. 4 MOA and no spin, what happens when the bullet actually manages to hit its target? I'd take a pistol with a brace over this and not look back.apostate wrote:It seems like a conventionally rifled AR pistol with a brace offers better practical accuracy, but they milked it for a lot of free publicity. In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

Here is the Franklin Armory video!

The barrel has lands and grooves, but it has no twist. Shoots 4 to 5 MOA at 50 yards, and then you begin to see keyholing. So, 2 to 2.5” groups at 50. That makes it acceptable at personal defense ranges......but it is going to cost in the $2K range, so......

I think they might be regretting the blowback from their hype.
Am I the only one that noticed in the video I posted that the Franklin employee being interviewed looked and sounded a little embarrassed/uncomfortable during the interview?

If a bump stock is a MG, then so is a binary trigger, and this is a SBR by similar Trump-style interpretation of the law. .
