Gun was unloaded and the safety was on when it just went off when he pointed it at his sister.
I think we need the death penalty for stupid. Might stop this.

Exactly. With so many new uneducated gun buyers, I am expecting to see more of this type idiocy.

The air in Houston is polluted. Maybe it causes some kind of brain damage.
Unbelievable that she shot him while on a social media site and then claimed he shot himself. Did she not know he was live streaming?

I think stupidity comes with all levels of experience, meaning, you never fix stupid. Back in 80's I had just left a party of folks sitting around in a living room, which was lucky for me. Homeowner, ex cop, took out a revolver from the bedroom to show everyone -stupid move #1. Everyone in the room said he cocked the hammer, said "I always leave one chamber empty", pointed at floor and pulled the trigger - #2. Of course, the bullet hit the slab, fragmented, and sent several to the ER. Wait, there was alcohol involved- #3.

Wonder what charges, if any, will be filed out of this?
Looks like a good case of criminally negligent homicide (Section 19.05 of the Texas Penal Code) for a jury to consider.
This man will have this on his conscience for the rest of his life regardless of what the courts do.

Having to live with doing something like that would be a very heavy burden to carry. I can't even imagine it.

Weird. Was getting an error page about invalid addresses and stuff I have no clue about. Wasn't posting so I gave up. Then, they all came up :)
Edit to add: Happened again with this reply. Don't know what's up!

Charles mentioned in another thread that it was a software update he has to do at some point. It is quite the chore so he will do it as soon as he can. When it pops up after I hit submit, I just click back and the post is there.

Even if the gun had been unloaded, and on safe, only an idiot points a gun at anyone they don't intend to shoot. Rule #1: don't point the gun at anyone, loaded or not.
