I tell you what, this has been an enlightening and fun project with the wax bullets.
I have found that the SWC bullet design and the addition of #9 shot to that area give the wax bullets a heavier front portion to keep it from tumbling and or keyholing in my experiments.
I'm sure you could do this with most bullet designs, I just like the idea of the SWC tip with the shot not coming in contact with the barrel as would a WC bullet.
Plus the smaller diameter of the swc tip seems to punch through a box easier.

Also, the added weight hits the target with more authority than just a regular wax bullet does.
I am working on making the wax bullet heavier. But do not want to make it so heavy that the primer will not propel it sufficiently.
I do not want to add any powder at this time. I have found that a very light wax bullet will not allow proper ignition of the powder.
The powder just spits out of the barrel unburned or partially burned. Maybe if the wax bullet had a gas check and a light or medium crimp????? But I do not think it would work...But I could be wrong. ( I was once )

Wish I had some #12 shot and some 1-0 buck shot...I have a few more wax bullet ideas on the burner to try.

I didn't get much done today, went to do my civic duty and got hung up talking to friends at the polls..!

Brilliant using weights in the nose of the bullet to give it stability. I have punched wax bullets with 45LC brass and they are a lot of fun, never got any kind of accuracy out of them though and I think that's why.

If you didn't want to put lead in the front you could maybe hollow out the rear end a little, or use 2 different weights of wax/glue for the front half and rear half. It kind of takes away from the ease of use though as I would just collect the bullets I could find and re-melt them and keep firing away.

I'm looking into making a two part wax bullet now. Thinking of wax on one end and glue stick on the other...Just messing around for the most part.

Been rebuilding one of my benches for a while now...Not messing with bullets at this time.
It's just that the weather is just right NOW...colder this weekend or so..!! Or in the next 5 minutes...Who knows...This is TEXAS???
