Alan Gura sues D.C. for right to carry

Alan Gura, who litigated the Heller case, has filed a lawsuit demanding the right to carry in the District of Columbia.

D.C. currently has no provision for carrying or transporting weapons except for a licensing scheme that exists only on the books.

Like Heller, this case is an all-or-nothing roll of the dice that could result in the Supreme Court ruling that the second amendment protects a constitutional right to carry, or that it does not (i.e., a disaster).

IMHO, even if the Supreme Court holds that the right to bear arms means carrying weapons in public, it will probably allow harsh licensing requirements and restrictive regulations of the method and places where people can carry.
