I took the class in February of last year, she in March. We didn't send in our applications (it was easier for us to mail in) until May and then we hit the road in our RV for the summer. Discovered you can only get fingerprints scanned in Texas and the clock was running out for our applications. Called the CHL help line and they made some comment in the records that should delay any application closure. We returned to our ranch sooner than planned since we thought our well was going dry and got our fingerprints scanned.
Mine were good on the first pass, wife's weren't since she doesn't have fingerprints (hereditary thing.) She goes back a week later for a rescan and fails those as well, as expected.
Her application status remained "failed fingerprints - waiting for rescan" (or whatever it said) for about two months. Called the helpline and gave the TCN number for the second scan. Waited for another month. Called again. Nothing to do - you're just in queue. Finally discovered L1 wrote down a wrong number for the second scan, they dropped a digit - this was after we talked to an L1 supervisor. Called CHL helpline again and gave them the correct TCN for the second scan. Of course this begs the question as to why we even needed to get involved in the process. The inescapable conclusion is the process is basically broken.
Viola (French word so you will think I'm smart and well-traveled) - checked the status and the fingerprint line now has a green check mark. Now we wait on a background review (they call it a "name check" if you don't have fingerprints). About 10-14 days later we are in "Manufacturing Pending"
