If your license status is "Mailed", but you have not yet received the license, and you get pulled over, will your Driver's License check show you have a CHL?
Just something I thought about this morning as I was taking my daughter to school. I passed 2 highway patrols and thought about what would happen if I were to get pulled over, and if I would run into any problems for not having the license on me. I did have my pistol on me, but I wasn't getting out of the vehicle at all. My license (supposedly) mailed out on Tuesday, but I obviously do not have it yet.

Yes. But you can explain to the officer that you haven't received the plastic and that you aren't carrying yet. But, you can still carry in your car under the MPA.
Re: If your license status shows "mailed"
It has been my understanding that MPA covered you having a concealed weapon in the car but not on your person. I would like to see if there are others to weigh in on this to clarify for me.
Sorry, I went back and read the text and seems like it is fine.

Nope, the law specifically states "on or about his or her person", several times. The statue says that it's an offense of the person is carrying (the listed weapons, including a handgun) "on or about his or her person", and then lists as one of the exceptions to the law, being "inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle that is owned by the person or under the person's control."cbucher wrote:It has been my understanding that MPA covered you having a concealed weapon in the car but not on your person. In other words, you can carry on you or near you, a concealed weapon if you're inside your vehicle, or directly en route (among other exemptions). Other parts of the act state that the weapon must be concealed.

Yes. There's at least one post from someone who says that happened to him. Drive Friendly.CATX wrote:If your license status is "Mailed", but you have not yet received the license, and you get pulled over, will your Driver's License check show you have a CHL?
