my mother-in-law

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

my mother-in-law

Post by SewTexas »

most of you know that my mother-in-law has been living with us for almost 2 years now. I'm her care-giver, she's 92, has advanced dementia, Alz, weigh 74 now and that's on an appetite stimulant....
We signed the paperwork for in-home hospice help this afternoon. Lots of emotions, some guilt, some fear, some sadness that it's time, some relief that there will be help.
Anyway, I'd really appreciate y'all's prayers, for me that I accept the help, for Robert...and our family. She is fairly disconnected from it all...the Alz, I guess.

I believe alzheimer's is one of the worse diseases not for just the patient, but many times more for the caregivers.

We will be praying for you and the family.

Prayers as well, went through the exact same scenario as you last year. Very emotional and tough decisions to make. Stay strong and if you need to commiserate with someone who’s been through it just shoot me a pm

Prayers for you and your family. This is a horrible disease. My dad has it and we had to put him in a home last year as we could no longer give him the care he needed. Yes, it is emotional and I am glad I had siblings to help with the decision.

y'all, this page of prayers is a blessing....thank you. It's been a long day, various deliveries and a long nurse visit. I was unprepared when we started this hospice stuff, for how emotionally draining it would be. It's one thing to have the possibility of death in the back of your mind, but by bringing in hospice it's bringing it to the ...front? I don't like it.

And yes, I agree with everyone I hate alz, it's straight from the pit of Satan.

My wife & I went thru this back in 2010 w my MIL. I'm sorry this is happening to you or anyone out there.
A very tough row to hoe but the help & experience that hospice brings to you and yours will be a very
welcome hand. Keep the mindset that the care she gets is because you love her and want to do the
right thing by her. She will have lucid moments (often times so short that you will miss them) where
she will be aware that you are there and that you love & care for her. You may not realize it at that
moment but, she is probably very grateful and thankful for the help & love.
To all out there, treasure what time you have no matter what your situation as things can go sideways quickly.

I’ve been exactly where you are with my own mother in law, also at about the same age, and it was not an easy time. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. By the same token, it was a time of blessing in which we felt daily, in an intense and personal way, the gracious presence of Holy Spirit walking alongside us in it. The day after her birthday, she went home to glory. It was a sad time, but also a time for God’s faithfulness and glory being made manifest.

We will keep you and yours in prayer.
