The website is very non-descriptive. What is the info on these matches? Sounds like they are on Monday evenings. How much does it cost? How many people are typical and how many stages will you shoot?

Do you ever shoot at Shiloh on Thursday nights? How does IDPA @ Spring Guns and Ammo compare?

They shoot at Spring Guns and Ammo every Monday night. The match started around 6:30 or so and wrapped up right around 8:30.

Last night there were 23 shooters and we were able to get 4 stages in. The results of the previous matches show one can expect roughly 15-25 shooters.

The total cost was $15.82. $5 to Tactical Shooters and the rest to the range.

I have shot IDPA at Shiloh on Thursday nights a couple of times but not since they've start using both ranges. I was talking to a guy last night about it and he said that it has helped a lot at getting more shots down range. The last time he was there they had 30+ shooters. The one difference that really struck me was how much brighter SGA appeared. At least to me anyway. However, the SGA crew does not go to FreeBirds after the match!

Have you joined the National IDPA as a member? I've been going to Collin County to shoot. They have a very strong club.

Yes I've joined IDPA as a member. I wish I could make the 2012 Texas State IDPA Championship Collin County IDPA is hosting.

I'll see you there.......make sure to keep your fingers from being extended (procedurals) whenever a fat guy from Houston is shooting. :rules:

I think there's a few fat guys from Houston (myself included) who don't want any procedurals at that match. So maybe just "if you see a fat guy, don't give him a procedural"! :woohoo

I just moved to the Spring area and have been wanting to get into IDPA, but have never had a chance to go. Is one or the other of these places more conducive to complete newbies? I've shot a lot for fun, but never in any sort of competitive or "action" environment.

Thanks!

I shoot with the Shiloh Tactical Shooters club at Shiloh Shooting range. There are matches every Thursday evening and the 4th Saturday of every month.

Spring Guns & Ammo and Shiloh Shooting Range are about 8 miles apart. Someone who lives closer to I-45 will find Spring Guns & Ammo more convenient, while someone who lives closer to Rte 249 will find Shiloh Shooting Range more convenient.

Or, if you want to shoot on Monday's and Thursday, come to both!

I'm going to try to pop down to SG&A tonight to check it out if scheduling permits.

Edit: Sorry. Just found out that my evening has already been planned. Next week hopefully.
