What Gun Bills Will Become Law

#1

Post by Jungle Work »

on June 17, 20 days after the end of the legislative session in Texas for the 2007 Legislature???

I believe there are a couple of bills lying on Governor Perry's desk that he has not signed or vetoed that will become law 20 day after the last day of the Legislature's Session.

Any ideas??

I got a letter from the TSRA today concerning what passed this session and such.

I believe there were 8 total bills that made it through.

Signed by the governor:
Castle Doctrine
Emergency Powers Protection

Waiting for Signature:
Redefined Traveling Law
CHL Confidentiality
the LCRA Property deal
special TSRA plates (whatev)
Laser assisted hunting for handicapped
Foster parent protection

I don't follow this stuff as much as many here, but they seem to be all pretty common sense. I don't believe any of them will be vetoed.

Also, Jungle Work from HCT? Haven't seen you in about 5 years

Actually, the CHL Confidentiality bill has been signed into law and went into effect immediately. It is in effect NOW.

Why hasn't Perry signed these already?

Surely those Bills have been accidentally put in the wrong stack of papers. It would be a bit embarrassing if the Bills became law without his signature this weekend

I, too, was a bit concerned at first but I have changed my mind.

In fact, quite the contrary, it wouldn't suprise me to see a special ceremony just for this years gun related legislation. Think of the potential to celebrate this years accomplishments, which were quite considerable.

Castle Doctrine, privacy, emergency protection, right to carry in your vehicle, all combined will make for a really great ceremony. He has certainly showcased a lot of this years legislation with signing ceremonies.

I certainly have no inside knowledge, but it wouldn't suprise me a bit. I would love it.

I saw in another thread here that the Veterans "reduced CHL fee" bill passed at the last minute...I believe that ranks right up there with the rest ogf them if this is still correct...That handles initial licenses, renewals, and changes to the license...I stand to be corrected if it doesn't do "all" of that...

The only one we all know didn't make it was the employer parking lot bill(s)...

Wait till 2009...

I have prepared a final update to the bill status thread, but I can't post it until all of the bills are signed or become law without Perry's signature. I'd have to have to retract something.
