New Carry Today

#1

Post by Texheim »

Not a Newb to carrying at all I just switched it up for the first time today.
Normal Carry Rig: Sig Subcompact P250 9mm, IWB Old Faithful Hybrid Holster.

Today's Rig: RIA 1911 45 ACP, OWB Ross Leather Holster.

This will be interesting.
First impressions is that it's very comfortable.

How do you like the RIA 1911? I had (gifted it to my son) a RIA 1911 Officer pistol in 9mm that was a joy to shoot.

I carry a Kahr K9 in a similar OWB holster in cold weather, very comfortable and with only a long cut jacket, and very concealable. I use a Theis IWB hybrid in the summer.

I shot 150 rounds through it with out any problems except the grip safety was a little harsh on my hand so I ordered some parts:
Wilson Combat extended slide stop
Wilson Combat Extended Beaver Tail Safety
Wilson Combat Hammer

Shot another flawless 150 rounds through it.
It's extremely accurate too. I'm enjoying it.

Good to hear, the only thing done to mine was a friend and gunsmith smoothed the trigger a bit, took all the grit out of it but it still had a little take up. I also had a bit of trouble with my magazines, the top round would occasionally lift and stop the case being ejected, causing a stoppage. I massaged the magazines a little and bent them in at the lip and had no problems with 500 rounds of WWB or 40 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense after that.

All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to get another RIA. Good pistols.
