Are they handloads or Factory?

#1

Post by jazr45acp »

I know we've had many discussions on the subject, but this might be new. I'm a reloader for several reasons. First, I don't trust "Factory" ammo since it has failed in the past. Second, I reload because it's cost effective. I can load a box of 45acp for less than $2.00 and 38spl(+P) for about $1.50. So, here is my question. If I have an FFL that permits me to manufacture and sell ammo, is it considered factory or handloads? If I load my ammo with virgin components on a "machine" is it considered factory or handloads? Does Federal or any of the other major "Factory" load their rounds by hand or by machine? By machine I mean something like a Lee 1000 Pro, RCBS press and so forth. A cast bullet would be a virgin component since it hasn't been fired before right? Thanks for any input. Later.
