Something tells me that first one would be a lot more "positive" in the eyes of the RKBA fence-sitters or outright antis if the young woman was holding something less "scary" or "evil" than an "assault rifle". Most antis will scream, "no one needs a machine gun for self defense!"

Would work better with a more "normal" gun that the people we're trying to win over would find less startling and offensive ... like a basic .38 revolver, or an average-looking semi auto.

Note the words in quotes above are my guess as to what antis and others will feel when they see the poster. Not my personal opinions.

Clever marketers package advertising for different groups of people since Real Americans come in so many flavors. What is admirable in one area sets folks off in others. The pre-teen girl with a pink rifle looks either cute as a button or like some kind of child abuse depending on the view.

My being pro-gun is based on my ideas and beliefs of firearms in this country. It has been implied to various degrees that my beliefs outside of RKBA, 2nd Amend, and firearms could be vastly different than the majority of regulars here. I hold pro-gun views despite my voting habits, my religious beliefs, my education background, my world views, etc.

As a pro-gun person I'd like to suggest WE can't afford to alienate anyone who leans towards OUR common goal and be cautious that personalities don't overshadow the issue.
