DFW Get-Together May 14th (Skeet thread)

That sounds like fun Andy. My shoty is the Mossberg with the 20" bbl and 8 rd tube. I put the Knoxx tactical stock from BLACKHAWK! on it. Would that be okay? It's got crummy sights only the little gold bead on the end of the bbl. I've never shot sleet before.

After Hoi Polloi's merry gathering of handgun / rifle shooters in the morning at Elm Fork on Sat May 14th, we'll be doing lunch at Mercado Juarez - and if anyone's still awake after all that scoff, we're going to go back to Elm Fork for a few rounds of skeet.

All first-timers welcome - bring a box of 25 shells per round of skeet you want to shoot (in birdshot ie. # 7, 8 or 9 size) - I'd bring at least 2 boxes - and your shotgun (must have a butt-stock and no riot-guns with barrels shorter than 20" - Elm Fork rules).

Elm Fork skeet fees: $8.50 per round of 25 targets
They do have rental-guns - Beretta semi-auto ($15) or Beretta O/U ($20)

Man I wish I could join ya'll. I was in DFW area (Grand Prairie first part of May for 4 days for the latest grandbaby's 1st BD and dedication. Now this weekend I have to be here in Houston when my daughter and Son-I-L from GP come for my BD. (I'm already dedicated) Maybe next year. Skeet shoot gathering for down here never came together.

Aw, man... I was looking froward to joining you as I just bought my first shotgun, but it's got an 18.5" barrel. Oh well, I'll still come for the AM session, but may not come back after lunch. On a related note, is there anything I can do at Elm Fork with an 18.5" barreled shotgun?

I'll be bringing my O/U and a box or two of ammo, but whether or not I shoot skeet will depend on how my back feels after standing around on a concrete pad, shooting pistols.

BTW, is anyone bringing along a single-stack polymer framed compact/subcompact 9mm? I've been thinking about adding something like that to my collection for a while, and I'd like to try one out. I'll provide the ammo.

I've got a Kahr MK9, which is the steel version of the PM9 your welcome to shoot to get the feel of the size in your hand if you want. It's really crazy how much accuracy you can get out of the little gun if you do your part.

I'll be bringing my SA9 shortie. Its not a single stack, but it will act like one if you talk nice to it.
