TX and LA have reciprocity. Just check LA laws concerning carry of arms.

Which prompts a thought. I have an iPhone app that summarizes in less than great detail the various rules in the various states. In LA, one can not have a concealed handgun in a restaurant that serves alcohol. Just an example, but it is certainly different than TX, and not knowing that and assuming no differences in the rules could get you in trouble in Thibidoux. If you are an iPhone kind of guy, this might be worth having.

:iagree: I even have trouble spelling Thibodaux.

Other than fast food "restaurants," that would probably apply to every restaurant in New Orleans.

In my class I was told by the CHL instructorthat if you don't have a reciept for your gun.
The Lousiana LEO will assume it is stolen and confinscate

The iPhone app is CCW - Concealed Carry 50 State Guide.

The web page mentioned above is great, but sometimes you aren't where you can easily access an internet page. This app might keep you out of trouble. It was either free or nearly so--I don't spend much for iPhone apps.

There is no law in Louisianna that states that. Think it is a wive's (instructor's) tale as we have never heard of it actually happening.

A good way for a LA LEO to get free guns.

Cause on my receipt; it just says store name, date & time, and total amount. It doesn't same the item name. Plus no one is going to carry the receipt for their gun. Well, I doubt they will.

I lived in New Orleans for 30 years - rules are different. The law regarding places that serve alcohol is contradictory. Most of the officers I have spoken to would haul you in if you carried in a bar but do not consider carry in a family restaurant that happens to serve adult drinks an issue.

Automobile carry is perfectly legal without a permit as your car is considered an extension of your home by the state. Church carry is a little iffy. Each church decides if they want to allow carry but that has happened since I left the state so I don't know how the info is communicated.

Carry is not allowed along a parade route during any type of parade (several hours before and several hours after the scheduled time).

You are not exempt from the public school "gun free zone".

Forgot to add that La is an open carry state, but in the 30 years I lived there I don't recall seeing anyone do it.
