DPS Audit

#1

Post by thatguy »

I am scheduled to be audited by the DPS for my CHL classes for the last 3 years. I don't feel it is a big deal because my stuff is in order but you never know...

Has anyone went through an audit? What can I expect?

There was some talk on the Forums about audits a few months ago. The general consensus sounded like no big deal for instructors who kept at least the minimum required records and weren't doing anything really stupid like selling certfcates without teaching a class.

If its anything like the audit the DPS does for alarm companies it is very mild and you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

While I admit to fraid nerves not knowing what to expect, the fact is I have my paperwork and follow DPS guidelines.

What I was asked for,

1. Copies of CHL 100's, class notifications, class completions.
2. Valid Instructor Certificate
3. Following DPS mandated guidelines....

Did they notify you what exactly they want to see prior to the visit?

Had my audit a couple of months ago. Both auditors were really nice. They told me what they would be looking for before hand. I showed them my ceritificate, the powerpoint I use and some of my 100's. We talked for a few minutes and that was it. It took about 15 minutes. It was kind of surprising but it was actually a pleasant experience!
