First Renewal

#1

Post by Embalmo »

Fellow carriers,

I was very pleased to get our renewed plastic in the mail (especially with the law changes), but the wait time was significantly different for my wife and I. I mailed her's in on the first of November and mine on the first of December, but they arrived within 3 days if each other. I wonder if having much of the same information got them put in the same stack. Hmm.

I am of the opinion that there is no rhyme or reason to when apps are processed. Timelines are pretty much all over the place. One reason for this may be an outstanding state worker verses a lazy one. Perhaps your apps found one of each.

I don't know if this has anything to do with renewals, but I saw on the TV news the other day that DPS is behind again in processing applications. One of the reasons speculated on was the fact that reduced fees has caused more people to apply for a CHL. Holiday season may have something to do with it also.

Also the fact that almost all of the instructors had to be renewed before the end of the year. The only ones that didn't were first time instructors for 2013.

We had our renewals a couple months before our originals' expiration dates.

Same here. Start early and don't worry.
