Unless the paperwork is right (signed lease agreement meeting the requirements of 49 CFR 276.12, complete driver qualification file, and actual proof that you are covered by his insurance by a certificate of insurance from his broker that lists your VIN), I hope this is not a case where you are driving for a friend with only a handshake to show for it.
