Chl online renewal help.

#1

Post by Craig8d8 »

I was told one years back that when it came time for me to renew that I could do that within six months of my birthday. Well when I login to the Dps site and enter my info if only gives me options to report a lost or damaged license, change this and that.....but nothing as to renewals. Any info would be great. Thanks group!!

So, you are going here:

https://txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/chl/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Selecting "Returning User" and logging in with DL and DOB and getting only :

Change Information
•Change residential address
•Change mailing address
•Change contact information
•Report lost license
•Report stolen license

Are you within your 6 month window? (less than 6 months until your birthday(expiration))?

This is all I get too.....but...I have a pending application for renewal. I do not know if their programming is smart enough to know not to show you a renewal link, if you are not within your window. it is possible. If you are within your 6 month window, I would call (512) 424-7293 and ask the ladies if they have the renewal turned off for some reason.

They may have renewal turned off because of all of the instructors who are about to expire and they are still trying to figure out our renewal process with the upcoming law changes. I wouldn't think they would turn it off for everyone though.

Try daily and when you are exactly 180 days away from your birthday the link will appear.

About a week inside my 6-months-before-expiration window I received a letter (via USPS) from DPS reminding me that my renewal was coming up. Next day I logged in and renewed online.

If you are outside 180 days, be patient.
If you are inside 180 days, give it a week or two. If still nothing, contact DPS.

12/29 - 180 days = 7/2 :tiphat:
