Of course New York refuses to honor any other state's CHL so I'm not able to carry in New York state. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might find a way or place to store my weapons in PA before I cross over to New York? I was thinking about maybe finding a gun shop and storing it on site, but a couple of gun shops that I've contacted said they weren't be able to help out. So, anyone that can think of a solution I would greatly appreciate it.Thanks!
I think you're asking the wrong question. Don't ask them to store it for you. Instead, ask for a deep cleaning. Tell them you want it cleaned at a level of disassembly that you (as a simple user, not an armorer) can do.

You'll get it back cleaner than ever, and the mission will be accomplished.

May work, may not, but it's worth a try.
That''s a good thing to ask--rather than storing them.

I had water damage and had to move out of the house for a few weeks. There would be contractors in and out of the house. I asked the local gun shop to store my firearms. I was told for insurance reasons they couldn't store them, but could clean them really slowly.

Can NY residents travel with guns? If they can, have one of your family members meet you at the border and let them carry it in their vehicle for you.

Recommend you do not take your guns to that state. We planned a trip to the NE and cancelled for all of the reasons that others here have shared.

Governor Cuomo does NOT want you in NEW YORK!

January 20, 2014

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo does not believe some conservatives belong in the state. During a radio show interview the Democratic politician said “extreme conservatives” have “no place in the state. Cuomo went on to define the unwanted Republicans as those who believe in the right to life, are “anti-gay” and are in favor of so-called assault weapons. The label often applied to the popular AR-15 semi-automatic rifles and similar firearms typically anger Second Amendment supporters. Technically speaking, any item used to inflict bodily harm on another person is an assault weapon.

During the WCNY radio show interview with Susan Arbetter on the The Capitol Confidential he went into further detail about how he differentiates common GOP voters from the class of constituents he considers extreme conservatives.

Governor Cuomo explained his separation of classes this way:

“Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and if they are the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”

Since “moderate Republicans has “consistently” approved of Governor Cuomo’s agenda, according to the lawmakers, they are welcome to still reside in New York state. The Democrat also urged the group of citizens who do not fit his non-moderate Republican classification to ask themselves if their “extreme conservative philosophy” can survive in New York – he emphatically stated that the answer to that question would be no.

Cuomo, who is Catholic, garnered the angst of New York’s Catholic Conference representative Dennis Poust on Twitter. The religious spokesman tweeted, “My governor thinks there’s no place in NY for people like me. Can I get a state grant to relocate?”

The NY governor went on to point out that the Republican Part is running against his signature piece of legislation, the SAFE Act. According to Cuomo, moderate GOP politicians voted for the controversial gun control law. Because of the passage of the law which some feel infringes upon Second Amendment rights, the governor believes those Republicans opposed to is do not have a problem with him or their peers across the, but themselves.

Andrew Cuomo further detailed why some conservatives have no place in New York this way:

“If they’re moderate Republicans like in the Senate right now, who control the Senate — moderate Republicans have a place in their state. George Pataki was governor of this state as a moderate Republican; but not what you’re hearing from them on the far right. You have a schism within the Republican Party. They’re searching to define their soul, that’s what’s going on. Is the Republican party in this state a moderate party or is it an extreme conservative party? That’s what they’re trying to figure out. It’s a mirror of what’s going on in Washington. The gridlock in Washington is less about Democrats and Republicans. It’s more about extreme Republicans versus moderate Republicans.”

Yes, but only their own guns. A pistol license in NY lists your firearms, and those are the only ones allowed in you possession. Anytime you buy a new gun it has to be added to the license. Its a real pain. BTW, even then you can't carry in NYC, which is another permit.

It's a real shame NY has become like this. My family lived in upstate NY from 1979-1984 and I had no idea it was like this then if it was. My dad never registered any of his guns that I'm aware of and even bought a couple while we were there. I still have one of the Marlin semi-auto .22 rifle he bought for me when I was 15.

Any idea how long it has been this way?

It started in 1911 with the Sullivan Act and went downhill from there.

He actually got that pretty much right. He's essentially saying that except for a handful of actual conservatives that exist in the Republican party to the chagrin of the GOP, there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans....they're all servants of the oligarchy and they resent anyone who represents the American people.

Extraordinary!

Isn't that who elected them?

I was probably a little too liberal with my language. The information above is for pistols only based on my experience between 1986 and 1994. At that time purchasing a long gun was the same as anywhere else (I think it was a federal form). Owning a pistol was made as difficult as possible. My understanding is that if you moved from one county to another you had to go through the whole process again. On the plus side, I just checked and my pistol permit never expired! So I might have a loophole if I ever went back, but that's not going to happen.

Probably a good time to point out the futility of the unilateral agreements in Texas. There is no motivation for a reciprocal agreement once that is in place. If they do not want us CHL's there, why do we want them here. My impression of this provision is to allow the folks who deny their citizens the right to carry in their own state, or make it virtually impossible for them to get a license.

An "Extreme Conservative" is one who believes in self defense and isn't a socialist.

Ive driven to Upstate every year for at least 10 years and have made at least 20-25 trips over the years
Every time with TX plates
This time I counted and Ive driven at least 9 different vehicles up there, many of them more than once.

I haven't been pulled over in NY once that I can recall.
I did get pulled over a few times when I had NY license MANY years ago...

Maybe its what you drive or how you drive or just luck
