University of North Texas campus carry policy

#1

Post by Turban cowboy »

I am currently a student at UNT. I recently looked over the new campus carry restrictions on the campus. After reading it, the jist was anywhere that the 30.06 signage will be posted. They also said they can declare the campus "gun free" due to some exceptions. i would love some other opinions and/or observations. I just want to ensure I am following the law while on campus. :thewave :patriot: :rules:

(Prohibited at) " 14. at a location where large-scale events occur on the campus premises,
specifically the ballrooms and Lyceum in the University Union, ballroom in the
Gateway Center, Coliseum, Main Auditorium in the Auditorium Building,
Murchison Performing Arts Center, University Theater in the Radio, TV, Film,
and Performing Arts Building, and the Voertman Concert Hall in the Music
Building. "

:banghead: If this remains, I want to see how this goes over with the Texas Legislature. Especially in light of that little concert hall in Paris.

It is a little confusing, but they can do so for short time periods under the law when there are special circumstances. The policy is fairly clear that it is a max of seven days and lists some very special circumstances. I think they are within the law IF they do not abuse this clause by declaring it too often or for irrelevant activities.

It is confusing. I was like :headscratch at first. I am curious as to how they will notify students, and how many days ahead of the event, according to law. :banghead:
