If you have a Texas CHL and are a resident of Tx, you are good to go. If you are a resident of TX and have a FL nonresident licence you are not allowed to carry in CO.

Yea I understood that part. I reside in Texas and have a valid Texas CHL (LTC now).

Then you are good to go. As said, be careful on Indian land. Some of the Indian Officers are OK. Some are real pains.

Yep this is the only part I am worried about. After reading the magazine law changed in Colorado I was very pleased. I may try and just avoid Arizona and Mexico and go the scenic route.

I travel through Indian reservations all the time. I also have eaten in their casinos and I have never had a problem. I make sure I don't speed or violate any traffic laws. I also don't carry into a casino, I do leave a weapon concealed in the truck.

An interview with a lawyer (Kirk Evans) about Tribal Law and firearms: http://blog.cheaperthandirt.com/lawyer- ... ands-guns/

Trigger Warning! He's with [Pre-paid legal service]. That always seems to generate some discussion around here.

Anyway, he says he has researched the subject considerably, and the General Rule for firearms on Indian land is "There is no General Rule."

It does appear (based on his comments) that if you are not a tribal member, you cannot be prosecuted by tribal courts, the tribal police can make your life unpleasant and exercise law enforcement functions, like hauling you off to the pokey overnight. They can seize your guns and ammo (and, I suspect, anything else) and never give them back. That may not be legal under law, but as sovereign entities, you basically have no recourse against them. Some tribes cede enforcement of criminal and civil laws to the state, but if I understand correctly, that applies to you, not to their actions -- like seizing firearms.

The lawyer in the interview is from Texas, and makes some mention of the laws of Texas tribes, and ones close by, especially in relation to casinos.

But... as practical matter ... if nothing comes to the attention of tribal law enforcement, then nothing happens. Driving through tribal lands on a highway (which may be owned by the tribe or the state, it varies) at reasonable speeds and not breaking other laws, eating your lunch peaceably, and carrying concealed, etc, would not seem to attract undue attention. Going to a casino that is keen on security, going to a bar -- different matter.

ETA: Sounds like anyone can get a carry license from the Tulalip Tribe in Washington: http://www.codepublishing.com/WA/Tulali ... p1130.html
Valid only on tribal lands, tho.

I would not hesitate to carry while driving through an Indian Reservation ( especially on a State road) However, I would not carry in the casino-convince store. The one I ate in clearly was posted that no firearms were allowed. The eatery and the bar were essentially one, and you had to walk through the casino (and security) to go to the restroom.

Reading Handgunlaw.us they say that Colorado recognizes Texas CHL. Is something changed or can I not read?
I think the statement is that you cannot have only anon-resident license and be legal in CO. A few years ago, some Texans were getting non-resident Utah licenses but not a Texas CHL. If that is your only CCW license, CO does not recognize it.
