Church Active Shooter Seminar March 3 Central Texas

First Baptist Church, Burnet is hosting an Active Shooter Seminar to help area churches address critical situations that are unique to churches.

WHEN: Saturday, March 3rd from 9 am -- 12:30 pm
WHERE: First Baptist Church- Burnet Sanctuary

Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Schaefer has agreed to come and present WILCO’s program designed to address active shooter events with recommended responses, suggestions of proactive options and how to respond during an attack such as:
Emergency evacuation vs lockdown
Safer ways to shelter in place
When to run, hide or fight
Alerting others

FBC’s Safety Team will present a program designed to answer questions such as:
Combating the “It can’t/won’t happen here” mentality
How to start our own Safety Committee and Team including:
Policies and Procedures
Finding the right people with the right backgrounds
What Senate Bill 2065 means for congregations & Security
Financial liability and Insurance coverages
Medical gear/AED’s /Radios and where you can get them

This seminar is designed to be helpful to all church staff, church leadership as well as church members. Our goal is to educate our fellow churches & ultimately making our community safer. While registration isn't necessary, registration will guarantee that the participant will receive an informational packet.

Burnet County C.E.R.T. Community Emergency Response Team will have a table/booth there

(You can apply to join CERT or get more info on CERT if you live in another county ... several Amateur Radio people (from Highland Lakes Amateur Radio Club HLARC.org ) will probably be at the booth, with the trailer too)
